The Consumer Code for Developers of Homes for Sale (the Code) was created with you (the Home Buyer) in mind. We designed the Code to give you added security and peace of mind when purchasing your new home from a Developer who has obtained an Build Secure Structural Defects warranty policy.

If the Developer is a Code member, then they have a set of obligations as outlined within the Code which they are required to follow. If you are uncertain as to whether your developer is a Code member, please see Section 6 of the Code which provides a list of exemptions.

To amend the policy into the buyers name we will need some information via the purchaser's solicitor.

The request should have all of the following information and should be sent via email or post:

  • Policy Reference Number.
  • Copy of Current Final Certificate.
  • Name of the Buyer.
  • Address of the Property.
  • Completion Date.

Or

  • Proof of Ownership via Land Registry Document.
